[International Wedding in Korea] A beautiful and intimate ceremony

[Wedding story] Beautiful wedding in Korea

It was the beginning of 2018. Lovely couple has visited WEDIT office. She's from North Carolina, he's from South Korea.
They already had a vision of their beautiful wedding in Korea. They wanted a romantic traveling concept wedding.
They prepared luggage tags for guests.
Beautiful wedding in Korea.
I still remember all the process. It was not the wedding that we used to see. This kind of wedding I have experienced for the first time.
 I will explain it why...
1. Bride and groom didn't see each other for 24 hours. Nowadays no one follows those rules.
2. They wrote their vows separately. They haven't shown their vows to each other.
3. The groom saw the bride after 24 hours when she walked in with her father. Can you imagine their emotions?!
4. The ceremony itself was sacred, no clapping, no noise, no introduction, just music. The guests were so concentrated which is not common in Wedding Hall Korean Weddings.
The Officiant and MC were WEDIT CEO Shin Han. He made an announcement about the ceremony, that it's sacred, and guests should not make any noise, all their concentration should be on the ceremony.
First walk-in... Groom is walking-in followed by groomsmen and bridesmaids...
Everyone is waiting for the bride...and Officiant asks the guests to stand and welcome the beautiful bride and her father!
Here is the Gorgeous Bride!
Here is the Groom meeting the Bride, father is giving his blessings to their marriage...
The scene is full of emotions which brings tears to the Bride's eyes... Their first meeting after 24 hours (everyone was touched by this scene)😭
The second part of the ceremony has started! More relaxed and casual, full of fun and joy!
Here is the introduction of groomsmen and bridesmaids! They re-enter dancing and having fun!
Now is the re-entrance of Newly Weds!!!
You can see how happy they are!!!
Pictures with friends!
Even the wedding ceremony has its end, the Newly Wed's life has just started! Wish you happily Married life!!

[Wedding in Korea] Koreans are having Culture Shock about the Wedding Style in Korea

[Wedding in Korea] Koreans are having Culture Shock about the Wedding Style in Korea

Have you been to Korean "Wedding Hall" Wedding???

What was your impression?

Let me tell you first about my impression. The first time I went to my Korean Language Teacher's Wedding. The wedding hall was in Gangnam area, Seoul. It was easy to find the building, but not the ceremony room itself. When you enter the building, you feel like in some kind of exhibition business center. There were so many people and so many rooms. All rooms were almost the same design, it remembered me a Church hall from the western movie. The difference was the welcome board in front of each room. In each room, there was a wedding ceremony for different couples. That's why the whole building was full of people.. they were the guests of other couples from each room.  I understood it later, because of many people it is hard to ask where is what..you don't know them, and they don't know you. After the official part of the ceremony, everyone goes to another room to eat. Imagine all the guests from all the rooms in the building goes to the same place to eat! There is no time to talk to the groom and bride. I couldn't even send my regards to them, they looked so busy to leave the ceremony room. Because in a few minutes another couple is going to have their ceremony in that same room (Weirdo :D) !!

I went to the buffet place. It was packed. Lots of people taking their plates and eating with the stranger in one roundtable. I didn't get the idea of doing that, I just left the place. I thought that is the culture shock!

I was talking to my friends and asked them about their impressions of Korean wedding. Here what they said via kakao messenger. The interesting thing is they have almost the same impression!

This topic was a hot issue that was discussed among Koreans in Naver blog. According to comments not only foreigners are getting Culture Shock but the locals too are having CULTURE SHOCK about their Wedding Ceremony!!! These are the comments they gave in WEDIT CEO's Naver blog post about the Korean Way of Wedding :

Let me wrap up the content:

- Don't know for whom this Wedding was prepared, for the couples or parents;

- I think it's not correct to invite the guests with whom you are not even in close relations... everyone just come to eat and go;

- the culture of inviting lots of people comes from the history..but if there were no Chuguigeum (money gift for happy occasions) culture from the beginning we could have enjoyed the ceremony...

- it's so ironical! they spend lots of money for that kind of ceremony;
- Wedding halls are just for money..and the guests are coming just because they were invited.. all are busy, the others do their wedding almost, in the same way, so did I...that's the reality...
- I think that kind of weddings is a big problem! Elder generation never agrees to make a small wedding with only 20 guests... WHY? Because they have to receive the Chuguigeum that they spread to
others....

- I can't understand why people do this kind of Weddings?
- Even being a Korean I hate this! 3000 times agree that it's a Problem!

I was so impressed reading these comments... The younger generation in Korea understands that "Wedding Hall" Weddings are a big problem. They don't want that kind of weddings. The problem is the Elders... This is a huge GENERATION GAP Problem! It means there is a huge misunderstanding between Generations in Korea.

Foreigners may accept this kind of Weddings as a Culture, but if the locals see it as a problem... then it means there is a SOMEthing to think about.

Thanks a lot for reading!
Will prepare something more interesting next time!

[International Wedding In Korea] 3 Tips on planning your wedding ceremony

3 MUST Things that should be in your WEDDING

HeLLo, Everyone! I am Mika, a #global_wedding_director in Wedding Platform Company called WEDIT in Korea. Our Company is oriented in helping couples to plan and make Self Weddings by themselves!

I decided to devote this post especially for those who are busy with their wedding preparations. Here we go!

3 Tips on planning your wedding ceremony

1. Walking in

This part is the most Important part of the wedding ceremony. And you should think about it properly. These are the questions that might help you to make a decision:

- How are you going to walk in?
- Who is going to walk in first?
- Is the groom is going to walk in alone?
- Is the bride is going to walk in with her father?
- Are you going to walk in together (bride and groom)?
- Do you want your parents (usually mums) to walk in first?

After you decide Who and How you are going to walk in, the important thing is to select the right music. These questions might be helpful:

- Are you going to have a live music?
- Are you going to play an mp3 file?
- What music do you want to walk in with?

It is better to make a list of the music for walking in part of the ceremony like "groom's walk in", "bride's walk in", "parents' walk in", etc..

2. Vows

The most important part of the ceremony. It is better to look through some samples of vows and make your own.
Pictures from Jasmine and  Sangjun's wedding
After the Vows there is going to be the Wedding Ring Exchange.
Picture from Becky and  Hyungsoo's wedding
After everything is done, it could be tie for bride or grooms' parents or friends to give a speech and their blessings to just married couple. Everybody is usually nervous on that day and some might  forget what they wanted to say. That's why it's better to prepare the speech earlier and print it out.

3. Walking out

Once the ceremony is about to end, the newlywed couple just need to do their recessional march. That's the moment all couples are waiting for as it's official their first step being husband and wife. It's great idea To select your favorite music in order to enjoy every second of your march.
You can ask your friends to prepare flower leaves to make a Flower Shower at the end of the virgin road.

This is the Average Wedding Scenario in Korea.
However all our brides and grooms having their own story we work together to personalize each couples scenario.
We're always curious to know how you'd like to plan your Wedding Ceremony  and what kind of cultural element you'd like to import from your Country.
Will wait for your comments and  and if there are any other topics you are interested leave us a message on the comment section bellow! Will do my best to write about that too.
Hope this post was helpful for you to get some wedding scenario idea!
