wedding !
Their simple but stylish story

Bryan,
who lived in the United States for many years and Christina, who is born from
an American father and a Korean mother, wanted to prepare a special ceremony
mixing traditional Korean Hanok style and Western wedding party. Their small wedding
ceremony at the Gyengwonjae Ambassador Hotel in Songdo, Incheon, became a
stylish wedding without using special decoration. Why don’t we discover
together the story of the real wedding of the day?
Because
they wanted to have Western style and Korean style mixed together for their
wedding, they decided to have bridesmaids and groomsmen. It’s quite common at
western wedding, to take many snaps of the bride and her friends dressed up
outside the lobby and preparing a fun wedding together. It’s a scene often seen
in our country too but in Korea, especially in front of a Hanok, pictures taken
with bridesmaids look even more special.
One of the bridesmaids role is to make the bride look
pretty and it’s up to these friends to help her wear the dress. The bride and
groom get prepared for the wedding in a separate room each.
The reason is to have a ritual called First Look. The
First Look is the first time the bride shows herself wearing her wedding dress
to the groom. The bride and the groom should never meet in advance, and the
groom should not see the bride wearing her dress before that time. In some foreign countries, there is a culture that says it’s not
good to see a bride in her wedding dress before the ceremony!
The bide
and groom finally meet each other. The groom’s face seems to be covered with
inexpressible emotion when he sees the bride smiling brightly in her white
dress. After looking at each other without saying a word for a long time, the
bride and groom end up crying.
What did
they tough during the time they were looking at each other’s eyes? We might not
know, but even those who were watching them started to blush and get teary.
After an
emotional First Look, the bride and groom finished the pre-shooting before the
ceremony. Why does it feel like a foreign movie when it’s a Hanok? The various
expressions and poses of the bride and groom, the various angles of the camera
that haven’t been seen before, and the roles of the bridesmaids and groommen
have also played a big part.
That’s
how the ceremony began. In many countries, including westerns, the Entrance
procession involves officiants, grandparents, parents, groomsmen, bridesmaids
and finally the bride.
The
closest and most precious people of the bride and groom enter one after another,
giving them an important role and attracting attention. It’s quite different
from the Korean wedding entrance, where only the bride and groom go down the
aisle. Of course, a lot of couples in Korea are doing their entrance in various
ways : ) You should also consider having your special entrance too!
The officiant,
Billy, took charge of the ceremony. In Korea, priest who can officiate in
english are very rare. In Korea, officiants are popular, but officiating is an
important role in declaring the bride and groom a couple at the ceremony. So if
you are an international couple with different cultures, you should discuss
this in advance.
The
overall ceremony was very much in foreign style, but the Korean wedding culture
was also included in the ceremony with the bride and groom taking the time to
greet their parents.
There was
no flower decoration on the wedding day. Pine trees and Hanok as a background
were enough to make their own wedding special. It was a simple but a perfect
place for the ceremony.
Reception part where the light bulb was shining
The
second part of the party started when the sun was setting down. The reception
party was decorated with sparkling light bulbs rather than a large, colorful
decoration. The bride and groom performed the First Dance through the
glittering lights.
And then
the mother-son dance and the father-daughter Dance started.
Following
the meal, the toast time for precious people. It’s the time to remember happy
memories with the bride and groom and hear the congratulations from friends who
wished them a happy life. The look of the bride listening to her friends shows
how deeply they have friendship and bond.
Let
down and everybody could enjoy a lot of excitement, lasted until late into the
night. Combining the strengths of Western wedding style with Hanok style
ceremony, Bryan and Christina’s couple showed so beautifully that the wedding
ceremony is exciting and should be an unforgettable day. The all team of Wedit
is cheering them so that they have a bright future ahead of them!
